Southern Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Pastoral Care Services Department is
here for the sole purpose to serve the patients, their family, the SRMC Staff,
and our community. We strive to provide spiritual companionship, a caring and
understanding heart, and a listening ear to everyone in need. A direct contact
or a referral will be honored and answered as soon as possible. The department
is respectful of the diversity of religious traditions, and serves as a
resource to all.
Being in the hospital can be a very stressful time where your routine has been
changed, sometimes abruptly; you find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings; and
often you are asked to trust people who you do not know nor have had a previous
experience. Our goal is to assist you on many facets of who you are mind,
body, and spirit regarding your comfort, as much as possible. We are
concerned for your total well-being while you are visiting Southern Regional.
Pastoral Care offers a number of services for our patients, their families, and
the SRMC staff. Some include:
- Two Chapels (one on the 1st floor off the
main lobby across from the Gift Shop, and the other on the main hall of
the Womens Life Center). They are available 24 hours a day.
- Personal visits by clinically trained and nationally certified
Chaplains.
- Availability when your own faith leader cannot be with you. We have access
to a Priest/Rabbi/Imam upon your request.
- A Volunteer Chaplains Association, whose members are local clergy persons,
who cooperatively volunteer one day per month to visit our newly admitted
patients and their families. The Association meets monthly at SRMC. For
membership information please call 770-991-8399.
- A relational connectedness with local faith group communities.
- Sacramental services are available to patients.
- Grief Support Group once a month. More information is available at
770-991-8399.
- Educational Programs are provided for local clergy persons and the SRMC
Volunteer Chaplains Association. These are scheduled in April and November. The
speakers who lead participants in these educational endeavors are State and
Nationally recognized.
The Pastoral Care Services Department includes:
- Director C.H. (Skip) Wisenbaker

Our prayer and meditation for you is from St. Francis of Assisi, which states:
"Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace
Where there is hatred, let me so love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light and,
Where there is sadness, joy."
We invite you to contact the Pastoral Care Services Department directly at
770-991-8399. May you be blessed!
